GO Transit: Burlington Station

A Watershed Project for GO Transit

Strasman Architects is the prime consultant   providing full architectural, interior design services, full-time contract administration, and responsible for design coordination of the structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, LEED and landscape consultants. The GO Transit Burlington Station is part of a transportation hub for GO Bus, Burlington Transit, GO Train and public vehicle access with Kiss and Ride as well as handicapped drop off and parking. The existing site includes a multi-level parking structure, surface parking, a bus loop and an existing station.
The new Burlington GO Station is a watershed project for GO Transit in that it incorporates  all of the elements of improved customer service and customer satisfaction that GO Transit now considers  essential in new station designs: energy efficiency, LEED Silver (minimum), retail outlets, handicapped accessible, elevators, bicycle racks, exterior canopies and shelters for weather protection.
The new Station replaces two existing station buildings, separated by almost a city block, with one building which provides internal circulation and waiting areas as well as convenient access to connecting tunnels to the station platforms and existing multilevel parking structure.
