GO Transit: Simcoe Station

Bold Design Concept for Union Station Expansion

Simcoe Station is a bold concept. It will be constructed below the existing tracks immediately to the West of Union Station. The current configuration has 4 platforms, 3 levels and connects directly to the lower Concourse of Union Station below Simcoe Street as well as allowing passengers to connect to UP Express, the Skywalk and Simcoe Street as well as elevators connecting platforms for tracks 12 to 15 located immediately above.
The station is accessed from Simcoe Street as well as Union Station’s Lower Concourse. Both the Simcoe Concourse and the Union Station Concourse have large retail components serving the large volume of passengers coursing through the station on a daily basis. The trains start their decent just west of Spadina Avenue and enter Simcoe Station half way between the CN Tower and Simcoe Street. At the main entrance to the station the tunnel dramatically explodes into a 20 meter high X 35 meter long Station House. Dramatic lighting as well as stimulating and colourful artwork on the side walls will make for a very exciting and unique passenger experience.
