This new maintenance and storage facility accommodates service and storage of TTC’s new Bombardier low-floor light rail vehicle (LFLRV). The major facilities constructed include a carhouse building with maintenance and administrative support spaces, a storage yard to accommodate 100 LFLRV cars, a stand-alone substation building, employee and non-revenue vehicle parking, a storm water management pond, and outdoor storage areas for large parts and materials. The new carhouse has a seven-track run-through facility with 30 vehicle repair positions and over 218,500 sf of floor space provided on two main levels. Inspection and repair of all the new LFLRV vehicles assigned to provide revenue service to downtown Toronto will occur at this facility. This facility will also store and perform daily servicing for the LFLRV cars based at this location. The project was designed in accordance with the Toronto Green Standard and includes a 90,000 sf green roof.
