VIA Rail Toronto Maintenance Centre Modernization

The VIA Rail Toronto Maintenance Centre Modernization project will include significant upgrades within the existing rail yard to accommodate 32 new trainsets.

The Toronto Maintenance Centre (TMC) project includes the demolition of a portion of the existing structure of Building C, construction of a new maintenance building addition, removal, and replacement of tracks, as well as the addition of a stand-alone Wheel Lathe Facility, and critical infrastructure improvements throughout the maintenance yard.

The new maintenance buildings seek to maintain a similar visual and aesthetic to the existing facilities, while incorporating important changes such as windows that are translucent glass on the south and clear vision glass on the north to allow ample natural light into the interiors and improve the quality of the workspace.
