Metrolinx Malton Station Rehabilitation

Client: Metrolinx
Location: Toronto, ON
Cost: $12 M
Completion: 2023

The Malton GO Station Renovation includes the rehabilitation of the existing rail platforms and parking lots to enhance customer service, be in compliance with Metrolinx standards, barrier-free requirements, and prepare for future electrification initiative for the Kitchener and UP Express corridors. To accommodate a new north service track, the existing side platform is converted to an island platform and will enhance customer service, comply with Metrolinx standards, barrier-free requirements, and new Metrolinx digital signage. The project includes the design and implementation of new mini-platforms and resurfacing of existing platforms with detectable tile platform edge, replacement of stand-alone shelters, integrated canopy, wayfinding, new lighting, and standalone IT Mini Hub Rooms on the platform. Strasman worked closely with Metrolinx to develop a new approach to the IT services on the platform by developing IT Mini Hub Rooms, an approach that has been utilized in multiple different stations subsequent to its implementation at Malton.

Tender documentation was completed for a new tunnel access with entrance building, elevator and stair connections but were de-scoped prior to tender.
